Greetings from the University of Utah! We hope that the school year is off to a rewarding and musical start for you. It is our pleasure to announce the University of Utah’s annual Honors Workshop. The event will be held on Friday and Saturday, January 31-February 1, 2020. The workshop will begin at 4pm on Friday, 1/31 and conclude with a final concert at 4pm on Saturday, 2/1.
The purpose of this workshop is to provide an enriching musical experience for your top woodwind, brass, and percussion students, as well as provide an in-depth look at how our band program operates. There will be rehearsals, clinics, and master classes. The opportunity to play in this select band will allow the students to learn from each other and to have an educational and rewarding experience.
We invite you to invite your students (JUNIORS AND SENIORS) for the workshop. We anticipate a large response, so it may not be possible to honor all applicants. NEW THIS YEAR in lieu of nominations, we ask that you please take a moment to share the link below with your students to complete the brief online application form by no later than DECEMBER 23, 2019. To complete the application process, please click the link below:
Students selected for the Honors Workshop will be notified by early January and will receive information regarding parking, lodging for those traveling long distances, music, and a schedule of events.
If you have questions please contact Scott Hagen at email@example.com. We appreciate your interest in the activities within the School of Music and thank you for your support.

If you are interested, please let Mr. Bradshaw know ASAP. His nominations are due ASAP. Placement auditions will be onsite, the morning of December 6th. We will carpool in a district suburban with Mr. Bradshaw. The concert is Saturday, December 7 at 3pm.
These are honor bands I know existed last year. I will post more information as I receive it.
The BYU-Idaho honor band takes place annually in January. I do not have any more information as of yet but have reached out to their faculty.
Please remember, you do not need to plan on majoring in music to attend these events. It is an opportunity to go to the colleges you are considering attending and learn about the school, the faculty and student life. Music scholarships are frequently awarded to non-music majors. You can continue playing music in college without pursuing a music degree. If you are considering a music degree, these are an incredible opportunity to see if you like working with the professors.
